I have farmed Deep a lot. Any by a lot, I mean a LOT. The current "cookie cutter" build is used because it has proven to be the most effective and resilliant in the face of pressure and dropping players. Yes, you need 4 monks, yes you need 3 tanks (you might be able to try a D/A tank but DO NOT HIT THE ONI). Your only leeway to play with is your room 2 crowd. If you could convince a w/a to bring lift enchantments, you could get rid of the SS and sub in something else. Oh, and you are supposed to skip the no spell-casting room. :P

Well, I guess this is the last comment I'm going to make on this thread.

When it is possible to beat the Deep in less than 75 minutes with a 6 man team, then clearly there is room for non-cookie-cutter toons to be included.

When it is possible to beat the Deep in HM in ~90 minutes with a 9 man team (and probably a 6 man team... though there is decreased motivation now to do so) then, again, there is room for non-cookie-cutter toons to be included.

Cookie Cutter builds are good for PuGs. Having played the game for 2 years I've seen what the vast majority of peoples idea of "original and interesting" is - Many know it is "complete and utter trash."

When pugging I find it is best to run the most fool-proof build. This normally does involve holding aggro - nuking crap - and keeping things alive.

Most people, when they think outside the box - have clearly not thought that much about it because their ideas of good builds are so atrociously bad it makes me wonder what game they've been playing since the release of Guild Wars, clearly not the same Guild Wars as I've been used to.

I like creative builds, but I use them with guildies/friends mostly. In a good PUG you can improvise a little too most of the time, but I don't mind sticking to cookie cuts if it makes people happy (Clearing tombs with a dervish PUG was fun though ^^). I PUG because I'm bored mostly, for socializing, if I want something done well, I'm better off doing it myself anyway. Of course cookie cuts can be a bit rigid/lame, but it encourages PUGing, and that more or less keeps this game alive, so, why bother...

Exactly! Tiger Sin, 'nuff said.

Quoted for rudeness and unnecessariness. Also, how can Pwny be a person who "turns PuGs into a bad experience" if he uses CC builds? Isn't that what PuGs need?

Edited 'cus I can't spell qoute.

Well, I'm no wocket scientist but I assume he uses his OTHER 3 skills to kill enemies or assist the team.

This is assuming a skillbar of Hex Eater Vortex, Shatter Hex, Backfire, Res Chant, Ausp. Incant. + 3 Others.

Time would be better spent thinking up your own ideas rather than trying to find the holes in other peoples.

The rudeness was in response to his rudeness, his negative attitude towards others and his manner of expressing. He deserved it, you just do not talk like that. And it is his style of communicating that adds to PuG's being bad experiences. PuG's do not need CC-builds, but people treating each other decently and Pwny obviously fails at the latter.

It's not safe to assume that the way he talks on the forums is how he acts in the game. I'm much nicer in-game than I am on these forums. Also, being rude to rude people doesn't go much of anywhere besides a fire i.e. flamewar.
